Translations

Surah At-Tariq (the morning star, the nightcomer)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Ayah: 1
Arabic:	وَالسَّمَاء وَالطَّارِقِ
Shakir:	I swear by the heaven and the comer by night;

Ayah: 2
Arabic:	وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ
Shakir:	And what will make you know what the comer by night is?

Ayah: 3
Arabic:	النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ
Shakir:	The star of piercing brightness;

Ayah: 4
Arabic:	إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ
Shakir:	There is not a soul but over it is a keeper.

Ayah: 5
Arabic:	فَلْيَنظُرِ الْإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
Shakir:	So let man consider of what he is created:

Ayah: 6
Arabic:	خُلِقَ مِن مَّاء دَافِقٍ
Shakir:	He is created of water pouring forth,

Ayah: 7
Arabic:	يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ
Shakir:	Coming from between the back and the ribs.

Ayah: 8
Arabic:	إِنَّهُ عَلَى رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ
Shakir:	Most surely He is able to return him (to life).

Ayah: 9
Arabic:	يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ
Shakir:	On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest,

Ayah: 10
Arabic:	فَمَا لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ
Shakir:	He shall have neither strength nor helper.

Ayah: 11
Arabic:	وَالسَّمَاء ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ
Shakir:	I swear by the raingiving heavens,

Ayah: 12
Arabic:	وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ
Shakir:	And the earth splitting (with plants);

Ayah: 13
Arabic:	إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ
Shakir:	Most surely it is a decisive word,

Ayah: 15
Arabic:	إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا
Shakir:	Surely they will make a scheme,

Ayah: 17
Arabic:	فَمَهِّلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا
Shakir:	So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a
