Surah At-Tur (the mount)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Total Verses : 49 - Listen to Recitation of this Surah with Translation

Ayah: 1
Arabic:	وَالطُّورِ
Yusuf Ali:	By the Mount (of Revelation);

Ayah: 2
Arabic:	وَكِتَابٍ مَّسْطُورٍ
Yusuf Ali:	By a Decree inscribed

Ayah: 3
Arabic:	فِي رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ
Yusuf Ali:	In a Scroll unfolded;

Ayah: 4
Arabic:	وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ
Yusuf Ali:	By the much-frequented Fane;

Ayah: 5
Arabic:	وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ
Yusuf Ali:	By the Canopy Raised High;

Ayah: 6
Arabic:	وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ
Yusuf Ali:	And by the Ocean filled with Swell;-

Ayah: 7
Arabic:	إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ
Yusuf Ali:	Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;-

Ayah: 8
Arabic:	مَا لَهُ مِن دَافِعٍ
Yusuf Ali:	There is none can avert it;-

Ayah: 9
Arabic:	يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاء مَوْرًا
Yusuf Ali:	On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion.

Ayah: 10
Arabic:	وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا
Yusuf Ali:	And the mountains will fly hither and thither.

Ayah: 11
Arabic:	فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;-

Ayah: 12
Arabic:	الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles.

Ayah: 13
Arabic:	يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
Yusuf Ali:	That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly.

Ayah: 14
Arabic:	هَذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny!

Ayah: 15
Arabic:	أَفَسِحْرٌ هَذَا أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see?

Ayah: 16
Arabic:	اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا سَوَاء عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	"Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds."

Ayah: 17
Arabic:	إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
Yusuf Ali:	As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,-

Ayah: 18
Arabic:	فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
Yusuf Ali:	Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire.

Ayah: 19
Arabic:	كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	(To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds."

Ayah: 20
Arabic:	مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَى سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
Yusuf Ali:	They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big andlustrous eyes.

Ayah: 21
Arabic:	وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيْءٍ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ
Yusuf Ali:	And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (ofthe fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge forhis deeds.

Ayah: 22
Arabic:	وَأَمْدَدْنَاهُم بِفَاكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire.

Ayah: 23
Arabic:	يَتَنَازَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ
Yusuf Ali:	They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill.

Ayah: 24
Arabic:	وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
Yusuf Ali:	Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants(handsome) as Pearls well-guarded.

Ayah: 25
Arabic:	وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry.

Ayah: 26
Arabic:	قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.

Ayah: 27
Arabic:	فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ
Yusuf Ali:	"But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind.

Ayah: 28
Arabic:	إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ
Yusuf Ali:	"Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!"

Ayah: 29
Arabic:	فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ
Yusuf Ali:	Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou onepossessed.

Ayah: 30
Arabic:	أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ
Yusuf Ali:	Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!"

Ayah: 31
Arabic:	قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا فَإِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ الْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!"

Ayah: 32
Arabic:	أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَامُهُم بِهَذَا أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds?

Ayah: 33
Arabic:	أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith!

Ayah: 34
Arabic:	فَلْيَأْتُوا بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِ إِن كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ
Yusuf Ali:	Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth!

Ayah: 35
Arabic:	أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators?

Ayah: 36
Arabic:	أَمْ خَلَقُوا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief.

Ayah: 37
Arabic:	أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ الْمُصَيْطِرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)?

Ayah: 38
Arabic:	أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
Yusuf Ali:	Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs producea manifest proof.

Ayah: 39
Arabic:	أَمْ لَهُ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَكُمُ الْبَنُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or has He only daughters and ye have sons?

Ayah: 40
Arabic:	أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?-

Ayah: 41
Arabic:	أَمْ عِندَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down?

Ayah: 42
Arabic:	أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot!

Ayah: 43
Arabic:	أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him!

Ayah: 44
Arabic:	وَإِن يَرَوْا كِسْفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاء سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ
Yusuf Ali:	Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"

Ayah: 45
Arabic:	فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّى يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),-

Ayah: 46
Arabic:	يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them.

Ayah: 47
Arabic:	وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Yusuf Ali:	And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not.

Ayah: 48
Arabic:	وَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
Yusuf Ali:	Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thoustandest forth,

Ayah: 49
Arabic:	وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ
Yusuf Ali:	And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars!
